Friedman Twala

Managing Executive

Friedman Twala is the Managing Executive of Petrofin Africa and Chief Executive Officer of Biotight (Pty) Ltd, businesses trading in fuel, gas, diesel and other petroleum products. His career spans fuel trading, banking, healthcare funding, administration, corporate governance, compliance and financial services.

He was the Chief Executive Officer and a founding member of Medicard, a Visa-branded business operating on the Capital Software third-party payment processing platform and registered with the South African Reserve Bank as a system operator.

Friedman previously served as Managing Director of Absa Healthcare, leading the division within Absa Consultants and Actuaries and Absa Financial Services. He also served as a director of Absa Mediboost and received a Discovery Health Platinum Award.

During his time at Absa, he was appointed Chairman of JBF, an industry body whose members included healthcare and financial services organisations such as Discovery Health, NMG and Alexander Forbes.

His other leadership roles include Managing Director and shareholder of Prosperity Health Corporate Fund Managers (KwaZulu-Natal), Trustee of Medicover 2000, and leadership of the healthcare division at Sekunjalo Investments.

Friedman began his professional career at IFM Holdings, spending five years in the Office of the Chief Executive Officer before becoming Managing Director. The company went on to become the first administrator of the KwaZulu-Natal Medical Aid Scheme.

He brings more than 20 years of combined experience across fuel, banking, healthcare funding, administration, corporate governance, compliance and financial services.
